About the price
Why is so much of it free?
Because a writing tool that nags you is a bad writing tool. The free tier is what Scriptorium does without a language model, and that turned out to be a genuinely complete piece of software — so it ships as one. Pro is the collaborator, which is the part that costs real engineering to run well.
Is $59 forever, or per version?
Your key covers Scriptorium 1.x. If a future major version changes enough to warrant it there may be an upgrade price, and it will be announced long before it happens — never as a surprise renewal.
What if it is not for me?
Use the free version first, for as long as you like. It is the same application with the collaborator switched off, so you will know exactly what you are buying before you spend anything.
Do you take a cut of my book?
No. It is your book. Scriptorium has no claim on anything you write with it, and no way to see it in the first place.
